 | Pleasanton Middle School students raised more than $9,000 in donations before Spring break for leukemia research.
Their check for $9,042.95 through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients campaign was presented to Erin Lutsko, who said that in her five years running the campaign, this is the single largest donation she's seen.
"To see such a record-breaking donation from children, who expect nothing in return, that's amazing," Lutsko said. "This donation will make such a difference in the lives of our patients."
In recognition of their fundraising achievement, the society has designated Pleasanton Middle School as "Champions of Change."
