 | Kate Bierdeman, a seventh-grader at Hart Middle School, relaxed after her 13th birthday party for 15 friends at Campo di Bocce with the presents -- at her request the guests gave her donations to help homeless dogs rather than personal presents for her.
"I love dogs and would like to celebrate my birthday with gifts to our local shelter," Kate said.
The presents included $75 in cash and gift cards and an assortment of pet supplies, which Kate delivered to the Valley Humane Society on Nevada Street in Pleasanton.
