Firefighters responded to reports of a grass and fence fire at 5980 Sunol Boulevard at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, they found a two-story abandoned house and storage structure engulfed in flames with a grass fire rapidly spreading, according to reports.

Police shut down Sunol Boulevard and rerouted traffic as crews worked to put out the flames. Within 30 minutes, firefighters contained the fire to the two buildings and about a quarter acre of dry grass, trees, bushes and wood piles near the building.

Crews were able to get the fire out at 8:30 p.m. There were no injuries and no one was in the house. The house and storage structure were burned to the ground and the fire didn't endanger other property.

Officials said the property owner claimed no loss to the property, as it was scheduled for demolition.

At this time, the cause is unknown.
