Fight occurs on Old First Street Wednesday afternoon

Bookmark and Share
Livermore police arrested a man suspected of fatally stabbing another driver during a road rage incident Wednesday afternoon, police officials said.

Hospital staff alerted police of a possible stab wound victim who arrived at Valley Memorial Hospital at around 1:40 p.m. Shortly after, police received reports of a road rage incident on Old First Street, police said. Police determined that the victim, a man in his late 40s, was involved in the road rage incident.

The victim was transported to Eden Hospital in Castro Valley and police were informed that he had succumbed to his injuries at around 5:45 p.m., police said.

The suspect, Cort Holbrook, 41, was discovered on Old First Street with what appeared to be abrasions on his face, police said. Officers also found the suspected weapon at the scene of the road rage incident.

Holbrook, a Livermore resident, was booked into Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of homicide, police said. Police said the incident does not appear to be gang related.

The men were driving a 2002 gold Chevrolet Cavalier and a 2003 gray Chevy Silverado Pickup, police said. Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Livermore police at (925) 371-4715.

Debbie,

Before you wish bad things to someone..

How do you know that Mr. Holbrook got mad because someone cut him off, where you there?

The question you need to ask yourself if you were getting beat to death and you felt that your life was in danger what would you do!

This is a simple case of self defense and unfortunately someone died..

This is very sad and it will have bad effects for BOTH families. I actually know Cort and am shocked as this does not seem like the man I know. Before anyone makes judgement, all the facts need to come forth and a trial needs to occur.

I am saying a prayer for both families tonight as there are no winners in this situation.

GOD - you obviously have a lot more details to add to the story. Could you please post the facts before everyone starts making stuff up?

I to know Cort, he is always there to help out anyone. I don't understand what could have happen. He had to have felt that his live was in jeopardy for Cort to stab anyone. I don’t understand why the so called girl friend didn’t call the police when the fight first started out. She must have enjoyed watching her boy friend pound on people. Never the less my prays go out to both family’s
