5 teens seized in string of robberies investigation
Pleasanton police nab group at Hopyard Road gas station
|
| Five Dublin teenagers were arrested in Pleasanton early Thursday morning for their alleged involvement in a string of robberies since Monday, according to the Pleasanton Police Department.
At about 12:09 a.m., the group, all between the ages of 16 and 18, allegedly exited a black Lexus sedan in the area of Via de la Cruz and Hansen Drive and approached a 15-year-old boy. One of the suspects brandished a golf club while another wielded a large flashlight, according to police.
Lamar Fountila, 18, allegedly demanded the victim's wallet. When the victim said he didn't have a wallet, Fountila reportedly searched the victim's pockets and took his cell phone, police said.
The suspects then fled the area in the Lexus, according to police.
The victim returned to his home and called authorities, and a radio broadcast was put out to officers in the field. About 20 minutes later, officers located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of a Shell gas station at 3790 Hopyard Road.
Officers took the five teenagers into custody and allegedly learned they were involved in at least two other similar robberies in San Ramon on Monday. Police said stolen property from one of the robberies was recovered from the suspect vehicle. Officers also recovered the victim's cell phone as well as the golf club and flashlight from the early morning robbery.
In addition, the suspects allegedly confessed to entering an unlocked garage of a home on Anastacia Court in Pleasanton and taking clothing, police said. The clothing was also recovered from the car after the arrests, according to police.
Fountila and Brandon Sowden, 18, were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
Three juveniles between the ages of 16 and 17 were booked into juvenile hall on charges of robbery, burglary and possession of stolen property.
The case remains under investigation by Pleasanton and San Ramon police.

Stacey congratulations, I hear you are a mommy now.
I do mean it, I wish you well. Being a mom is the best and hardest thing I have ever done. I hope you enjoy the good and the bad of it as much as I have.
I have watched your judgmental posts for a long time.
As a mom with 24 years and 3 kids experience I predict your holier-than-thou attitudes will bite you in the butt in about 14 years or less.
The less you judge, the less you will be judged.
I know you will be a good parent because you care, just as I know most of our neighbors are.

Posted by Stacey, a resident of the Amberwood/Wood Meadows neighborhood, on Mar 30, 2008 at 10:43 am Well thanks for your judgment. Why would I write here about mistakes I've made and be exhibitionist just so readers could be less judgmental of me? I'm sure the audience here really doesn't care about what goes on in my life. Moreover, what does this have to do with Lexus-driving hooligans? One thing is for sure, I won't be buying cars for my kids.
