Pleasanton Police Chief Michael Fraser announced Monday that police Officer Kurt Schlehuber and maintenance assistant Jay Linton have been selected as the Police Department's employees of the year.

Department staff members chose several nominees for the police of the year and professional staff employee of the year, according to the city.

Schlehuber and Linton were selected due to the contributions they made during 2007 to the department and city.

Schlehuber, who is assigned to the patrol bureau, serves as a Special Weapons and Tactics member and is on the executive board for the Pleasanton Police Officers Association. In addition to training new officers in the field, he has also trained department personnel in various aspects of the police department's new Computer Aided Dispatch/Records Management, according to city officials.

Officials credited Linton with using his electronic education and background to save the city money by offering to program the department's mobile and portable radios. As a maintenance assistant, Linton's duties relate to fleet and facility management, according to the city officials.

"Jay not only ensures his job is done in an expeditious manner, but he looks for ways to make the jobs of others as easy as possible,''

Fraser said in a prepared statement. "Jay's positive work ethic and energy is exemplary.''

Kudos to this Officer and the whole Pleasanton PD who don't get thanked enough for the job they do 24 hours a day - maintaining our quality of life. In fact a big thanks goes out to all Police Officers who don't get thanked enough for the sacrifices they and their families make for us.

Do know there are people out there who do care and appreciate your hard work and dedication to the communities you serve.
