Valley Humane Society plans benefit concert featuring Jefferson Starship guitarist

 | Jefferson Starship guitarist Craig Chaquico will perform at Valley Humane Society's "Jazzed About Pets," from 7 to 10:30 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Palm Event Center, 1184 Vineyard Ave., Pleasanton.
Guests will enjoy an array of heavy hors d'oeuvres and no host cocktails as you savor the music. Admission is $85 per person and proceeds go to support the programs of Valley Humane Society, a nonprofit organization.
Headliner Craig Chaquico has engaged and inspired two generations of pop music fans as the lead guitarist and most prolific principle
songwriter for Jefferson Starship and Starship from 1973-1990. With 20 Gold records combined between the Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship and Starship, Chaquico was instrumental in making that combination one of the most successful bands in history. In the early 1990s he left the fast-paced pop world and reinvented himself as an award winning solo contemporary instrumental artist, songwriter, producer and bandleader. He is now one of the most popular and best-selling artists in the smooth jazz genre.
London-born pianist and composer Terry Disley will open the evening with his five-piece all-star jazz group The Terry Disley Experience. As
a long time touring and recording keyboardist, Terry has worked on studio and live projects with Bryan Ferry, Van Morrison, George Harrison and has appeared alongside jazz luminaries such as McCoy Tyner, Cedar Walton and Monty Alexander. The Terry Disley Experience plays original compositions, which embrace swing, cool jazz, funk, salsa rhythms and reggae with some very catchy accessible melodies.

And its for a great cause as well!! I'd recommend getting tickets early as I can't imagine the Palm event center holds more than 400 to 500? Craig must be an animal lover?!

You post alot and some of your contributions have good content, whether of not someone may or may not agree with you. Why do you have to be flippant about an organization trying to do good? Having an opinion is one thing, putting people down to feel better about yourself is a different matter. Maybe put your energy into doing something positive to help others?

It is good to see the people of the Valley Humane Society working to better the lives of homeless animals, and it is a good thing for children to see, (by the way, there are children volunteers at VHS.)

Given the cost of tickets, I'm concerned that younger people will not be able to enjoy the music with the adults. So, invite them in for FREE; the shelter, animals, parents & kids will all benefit.
I'm talking win win...dudes!

Posted by Wow, a member of the Amador Valley High School community, on Feb 23, 2008 at 9:24 am The purpose of this and other fundraisers by Valley Humane in addition to continuing to fund its existing programs, is to build a permanent (they are currently operating out of a trailer) facility.
Please buy tickets!

His vocalist was unbelievable. I went to this event to support the charity not expecting that much from Craig. I left simply saying WOW!
Great event Valley Humane! If the rest of your "fundraising" is this much fun I WILL be there!
