Former councilman and Lions Club member Roger McLain died Tuesday at a rest home. He was 77 years old.

Mr. McLain was born Sept. 2, 1930. He was a longtime resident of Pleasanton, a former city councilman and was actively involved in the Lions Club.

He served on the City Council from 1975-1976. He was given the Mayor's Award for outstanding community service in 1972. He spent many years as a photographer for his own company, Assured Photography.

Services are pending for Jan. 12, but details are still being scheduled.

It takes a great deal of time and compassion to serve one's community, as well as time away from family. Roger McLain was one of those who gave of himself on behalf of the people of Pleasanton, for many, many years. He will be missed by his community of Pleasanton, but never forgotten.

My condolences, and best to the McLain family.

Roger was a real Pleasantonian. He was a real gentleman and a very talented photographer. I enjoyed our conversations and will miss him.

My thoughts are with his family
