Yes, great job for both teams. However (and not to sound like a broken record), there ARE two other varsity lacrosse teams in town -- the girls' teams, which also played very well. The article should really read:

"Foothill High boys' varsity lacrosse team prevailed against Amador Valley, 8-4, in the North Coast Section semifinals held at Foothill the evening of May 26."

totally agree with Love Lax. The AV girls varsity lax team also went to the NCS final game, and also was the runner-up to the finalist winner (MV) - same finish level as the Foothill boys team. Somehow that same accomplishment didn't get the same visibility.

Additionally, the Foothill girls varsity lax team made it to the NCS semi-finals, losing to the eventual champ (MV). Great NCS finishes for both hs girls teams!

Can someone remind me why a private school is allowed to compete in a public school league without having to abide by their rules and regulations?

It is my opinion that the womens lacrosse program doesn't garner as much attention as the mens program because it is just not as exciting to watch. I believe the Title IX legislation was a huge victory for anyone concerned with equal rights. It was absolutely a step in the right direction. But with that said, it is hard for spectators of sports to get past the fact that mens sports are played a higher level. Take a look at the WNBA and their leagues success and exposure. Its not that they aren't great athletes, its just that if I am going to spend some of my valuable time watching a sporting event, I'd prefer to watch the highest level of competition available. Anyways, Congrats to all of the local teams for doing so well this season!
