What better day than tax day to also have a community meeting on market conditions in residential housing, usually the biggest investment individuals have in reporting their assets to the IRS?

The third annual real estate meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at the Veteran's Memorial Building, located at 301 Main Street in downtown Pleasanton.

The event is co-sponsored by the city of Pleasanton, the Pleasanton Weekly, the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and the Bay East Association of Realtors.

The purpose of the event is to provide the public with objective, timely and accurate information about the residential real estate market in Pleasanton. A panel of experts in the real estate, mortgage lending and economics professions will discuss current conditions and public options.

Pam Winterbauer, president of the Bay East Association of Realtors, has been selling real estate in the Bay Area for more than three decades and has extensive knowledge in negotiating, contracts and Real Estate law. She will discuss the historic and current housing market conditions in Pleasanton, complete with a foreclosure and market analysis.

George Duarte of the East Bay chapter of the California Association of Mortgage Brokers will address issues related to home purchase financing, including current mortgage industry conditions, loan types and interest rates. He will also talk about the impact of the president's economic stimulus package, and foreclosures.

Rounding out the Town Hall panel will be Stephen Shmanske, director of the Smith Center for Private Enterprise Studies and a professor of Economics at the College of Business and Economics at Cal State East Bay.

More information about the forum is available by contacting the Bay East Association of Realtors at (925) 730-4068.
