84 reopened after closure for flooding
Thoroughfare was closed between Fremont and Sunol for five hours

Share
State Highway 84 between Fremont and Sunol reopened shortly before 4 p.m. today after closing for nearly five hours due to roadway flooding, a Caltrans spokesman said.

The two-lane roadway between Mission Boulevard in Fremont and Kilkare Road in Sunol closed at about 11 a.m. when debris and mud began flowing across the highway, Caltrans spokesman Allyn Amsk said.

The drainage pipes under the highway became clogged with mud, according to Amsk, causing mud and water to build up in the roadway.
