Scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Amador Valley High School library, the discussion will cover the steps PUSD and others are taking in response to the health crisis.

There will also be a panel of district and community personnel to share their knowledge of the H1N1 virus.

Remember the "Swine Flu Crisis" in the 70's? More people died from the shot then the actual virus. At the end of the day it's your family's decision if the shot is right for you but just be sure you have information from both sides.

Also remember: more people died last year of the seasonal flu, than this year so far of the swine flu. Yet last year, we did not hear, constantly, the number of people who had died because of the seasonal flu.

The swine flu shot makes me nervous because it has not been tested that long, and because of the potential problems with it.

And those so worried about catching the H1N1 should certainly avoid "forums" with lots of people breathing, touching, coughing, sneezing. Just go on with your life, wash your hands, eat right - the key is building up your own immune system. Not injecting false hope in the form of a vaccination.

I also wonder about the people waiting in line for hours for the H1N1 flu shot. They have more of a chance catching a cold or the flu while waiting in line inside a stuffy building where people are so close together. It's crazy.
