A 19-year-old man was fatally struck by a freight train on tracks in Livermore early Saturday morning, according to the Police Department.

Tyler Richard Booth, a Livermore resident, was on the train tracks north of the 2800 block of Old First Street east of the Junction Avenue railroad crossing when he was hit by a train at about 2:25 a.m., Livermore police Lt. Lance Bye said.

Emergency medical personnel and Union Pacific Railroad police responded but Booth was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Bye.

The incident remains under investigation.
