Group working to put Constitutional Convention on 2010 ballot
'Repair California' to start gathering signatures to qualify 2 measures for vote

Share
Members of a pro-Constitutional convention group are submitting two ballot measures today calling for a state convention in early 2011.

Members of the group Repair California hope to place the measures-- one allowing Californians to call for a Constitutional convention and another to actually call for the event and lay out the format-- on the November 2010 ballot.

The group will hold a news conference today at 11:30 a.m. outside the Attorney General's Office in Sacramento.

After the ballot language is submitted, the group must gather and submit sufficient signatures to secure its place on next year's ballot.

Repair California, which is sponsored by the Bay Area Council, advocates overhauling the state Constitution to change the state's budget, election and revenue distribution process.

If we really want to save our State huge amounts of money and reduce the headaches in Sacramento, we need to establish a unacameral system.

A number of States have just one legislative body, either a house or a senate. We do not need the complexities of two. Readers should check this out in present day State Governments.

Just think, we would have less new laws and less to vote on. Amen.

Beware. Some SPECIAL INTERESTS are just trying to get at more of our $$. Constitution Convention is required to make changes, so that it cannot be done too easily. The 2/3 budget requirement is the ONLY protecton middle-class families have for protecting themselves. The legislature & public employee UNIONS would love to have more of our $$ for them to play with. ....Once a const convention was started many other changes would be open to change, making the 'people' of CA very VUNERABLE ! Hands off. Wake up people and don't let the special interests push thru the right to steal you and all of us to the point of financial destruction.

Help!!! How does one get to the Web Link that's apparently related to this post. I'm interested to see who the members of this "Group" might be. I tried the junk related to the "Read the full story here" and it brought me back to the original post... Help needed...
