A 35-year-old man was fatally stabbed Saturday night in Livermore, police said yesterday.

Officers went to the area of Walnut Street and Livermore Avenue at about 11:35 p.m. Saturday after a caller reported a man lying on the sidewalk, police said. The caller said the man appeared to have been in a fight.

The victim had been stabbed in the chest and was taken to Eden Hospital where he was pronounced dead early Sunday morning. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call police Detective Reynolds at (925) 371-4730.
