Aquatic Center fee to be reduced to $1 for recreational swim over the weekend

Bookmark and Share
The city of Pleasanton will open a cooling center for those seeking relief from high temperatures as temperatures are forecast to rise past the century mark today.

Heat advisories have been issued for Pleasanton and the Tri-Valley where temperatures are expected to reach into the lower 100s with west winds of only 5 to 15 mph.

The Pleasanton Senior Center is the primary cooling center location and will be open from noon to 9 p.m. both days. Besides the center's spacious air conditioned facilities, water, snacks, games and television will be offered.

Pending forecast projections, the times may be reduced or expanded as needed.

The Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center will offer reduced fees for designated recreational swim hours for Pleasanton residents who bring proof of residency, with fees of only $1 for residents today and tomorrow.

Free transportation will be provided through Pleasanton Paratransit Service to any cooling center location for those ages 60 and older or ADA qualified. Call 931-5365 to arrange a ride and advise the dispatcher that you would like a ride to a cooling center.

Tonight the region is expected to be mostly clear. Low temperatures in the upper 50s and variable winds of 5 to 15 mph are anticipated.

Monday the region is expected to be mostly sunny. High temperatures in the upper 90s and variable winds of 5 to 10 mph are anticipated.
