McNerney to honor 11 tonight who have been accepted into military academies
Pleasanton ceremony to salute parents and students soon to start first year

Congressman Jerry McNerney (D-Pleasanton) will honor 11 students and their families this evening from the 11th Congressional District who have been accepted to a military service academy.

The ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building, 301 Main St. in downtown Pleasanton.

Each year since his election, McNerney has nominated high school students from the district for acceptance to these academies.

Those who have been admitted for the 2009 school year and will soon head for first-year classes at the academies are:

United States Air Force Academy: Aaron Dyke, Manteca; Kristina Lindstrom, Sunol; and Michael Yemane, Danville.

United States Merchant Marine Academy: Adam Leines, Discovery Bay.

United States Military Academy at West Point: Jordyne Hayden, Linden; Andrew Horne, Brentwood; Derrick Mackey, Stockton; and Terrence Murphy, Morgan Hill.

United States Naval Academy: Sean Divoky, Tracy; Casey Long, Pleasanton; and Amy McFerran, Manteca.
