| A three-car accident at 10:20 a.m. Thursday morning sent two people to the hospital and caused a portion of Sunol Boulevard at Interstate 680 to be closed.
California Highway Patrol Officer Duncan said a white van was exiting I-680 northbound at Sunol struck a sign, causing it to drift through the stop sign and over Sunol Boulevard. It struck the raised curb median and struck a maroon sedan heading east on Sunol Boulevard. The van landed on the I-680 northbound onramp, facing south. Both the van and maroon sedan were totaled. The third car involved was a smaller white van that rear-ended the maroon sedan.
Duncan said they were still determining what exactly happened and expected the road closure to be cleared around 11:45 a.m.
