Dublin woman charged with tax fraud
Indictment claims she filed false tax refunds totalling more than $97,000

A Dublin woman with a host of aliases was arrested Monday on charges related to a false tax refund scheme, according to United States Attorney Melinda Haag.
Denise LaShawn Reed, also known as Brooke Nicholson, Lauren Roberts, Denise Berry, Savana Jones and Neyce Roberts was indicted for filing fraudulent claims to the IRS between January 2009 and February 2010.
Reed made the claims by preparing and presenting tax return forms n the names of others. She was charged with 14 counts of filing false claims for refunds of taxes totaling $97,002.
The Dublin woman was released on a $50,000 bond after a court appearance. Her next scheduled court appearance is Feb. 14, 2013.
The maximum penalty for each count of filing false claims, in violation of Title 18, United States 287, is five years in prison and a fine of $250,000, although a judge will have the final say.
The prosecution is the result of an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation.
