Amador Valley High helping needy students
Counselors accepting gift cards today to give to 'less fortunate'

Bookmark and Share
Counselors at Amador Valley High School will accept gift cards from the public today to give to students and their families who are less fortunate this time of year.

Those interested are asked to purchase a gift card for groceries or clothing and hand it to one of the school's front office staff today.

Gift cards may be in any amount and from any store, although gift cards from Target and Walmart stores are preferred since they offer the most options in terms of food, clothing and toiletries. Safeway is also recommended because of the supermarket's store close to the Amador campus. Gift cards to restaurants are not needed.

Last year, the value of gift cards contributed in a similar program typically ranged between $10 and $25.

Amador counselors will distribute the gift cards confidentially before the Christmas break that starts with the end of classes on Friday.

For more information, contact Tamra Girvan at 462-0775 or tamragirvan@comcast.net.

I look forward to a world in which this is no longer necessary.
