The Commanders Jazz Ensemble, part of the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West, will present a free public concert Dec. 10 at Las Positas College. The concert is being sponsored by the college's Veterans First Program. Under the direction of Senior Master Sergeant Rick Thorp, The Commanders, based at Travis Air Force Base, carry on the American musical tradition of great traveling big bands. This energetic group of highly-trained professional airmen-musicians plays everything from traditional jazz, cool, bop and swing, to Broadway favorites, popular tunes, Latin rhythms, and patriotic music.
