Pleasanton police have identified a suspect in a Wednesday night stabbing at Las Ventanas apartments in the 3800 block of Vineyard Avenue.

The stabbing victim has identified the man who stabbed him as Jesse Serpa, a 33-year-old Hispanic man from Livermore, according to a police news report.

The report was forwarded to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, which charged Serpa with one count of attempted murder. A no-bail warrant has been issued for Serpa's arrest.

Police arrived on the scene at about 9 p.m. Wednesday after receiving several 911 calls about a stabbing at the complex.

Initial reports indicate that two men began arguing with each other and started fighting. During the course of the fight the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim once in the chest, then fled on foot.

The victim, a 30-year-old Livermore resident, was taken to Eden Medical Center for the treatment of his injury, which is non-life threatening.

Serpa is described as a Hispanic male adult with black hair and brown eyes, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and about 180 pounds. He was wearing a black shirt or jacket and blue jeans.

While police say the two men knew each other, they have not been able to determine what led to the fight.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation or the location of Jesse Serpa is encouraged to call the Pleasanton Police Department at 931-5100.

" . . . they have not been able to determine what led to the fight."

The initial and proximal causes of the majority of these fights are, respectively, ignorance and alcohol.

Causes? Really? How about: poverty, desperation, surplus repression, perhaps drugs/alcohol (an understandable response to previously mentioned), perhaps competing love interests, all manifested in a blind, violent rage. Ah, I guess the above poster's Fox News explanation is simpler and feeds our pre-existing biases.

Brad, how about ignorance, false pride, poor breeding, weak morals and victimization by liberal interests. Oh yeah, this might apply to the dirtbag combatants, too.

The name Serpa is quite common in Milan, Italy. Perhaps he's not "Hispanic".

as for "Steve" or rather Steffie, go soak your head in ice water!

Cholo, did you never learn how to read? "Jesse Serpa, a 33-year-old Hispanic man from Livermore"

I guess I understand your need to protect your barrio compadres...gotta love the company you keep.

The sick one suggests we believe all that we read in the newspaper -- you know, straight from all those diseased liberals who run the lamestream press. Got it? Too damaged to reflect upon self, the sick one can only project his self hatred toward others. Likely Hispanic or part-Hispanic himself, it is especially Hispanics whom he so loathes, as they become the placemarker for all that is corrupt in the sick one's soul.

I agree with Liberalism, Steve and Friendly.

These people love to make excuses for bad behavior.

I got censored by PW for saying ghetto...surprised that

they didn't censor 'barrio'..... Same difference....

Different color I guess. Some people don't see the light

of day. They will wonder what happened to our valley

after the fact that it's too late. Wake up people!!!!

...yes I used that phrase!....independently too!

Also.....who is it that defaces other people's property by

tagging and graffiti????...trespassing on others property????

Must be those 'poor' white kids. Give us a break.

We're not the criminals for calling things as they are

as we see them.
