Californians have 10th longest commute times, report says

Californians have the 10th longest commute times in the country, according to reports. Americans spend an average 23.7 minutes getting to work. More than three-quarters of them drive alone, nearly 1 in 10 carpool and 5% take public transportation. Californians are less likely to drive alone, although 73% do, and are more likely to carpool (11.4%) or ride public transit (5.2%). The report was prepared by California Watch.

Try 1.5 hours each way, in my case... It would be 20 minutes shorter if I drove to the BART station instead of biking, but since the parking lot is full by about 7:45, and you can't park in any of the businesses in the surrounding area...

I'm screwed either way, because traffic is bumper to bumper in the westward direction when I leave the house. I prefer BART to driving because at least I can read on the train.

23.7 minutes? where the hell they get that? maybe it meant to say 2.3 hours. 23 minutes doesn't even get you from Livermore to dublin on 580 on a good day in morning commute traffic.
