| A big-rig driver who lost control when he drifted and crashed into the Interstate 680 center divide in Pleasanton late this morning has shut down all southbound lanes and one northbound lane of the highway for hours, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The 50-year-old driver was heading northbound on I-680 when he drifted toward the shoulder, over-corrected and crashed into the center divide near the Stoneridge Drive off-ramp, CHP Officer Shawna Pacheco said.
The accident was reported at 11:50 a.m.
When the truck hit the center divide, part of it crossed the divider and the vehicle landed on its right side, blocking all southbound lanes, Pacheco said.
The driver was pulled out from the truck cab and taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley for a complaint of pain, Pacheco said.
One other car was involved in the crash but no one in that vehicle was injured, according to Pacheco.
A Sig-alert was issued at 12:07 p.m. for the southbound lane closures and the one northbound lane affected.
Southbound traffic is getting by on the shoulder, Pacheco said.
Motorists in the area are advised to expect delays, Pacheco said.
Crews at 2:25 p.m. were also working to clean up about 40 gallons of spilled diesel fuel from the crash, Pacheco said.
The CHP estimated the highway would reopen by 4 p.m.

It took almost 40 minutes to get from the Bernal 680 NB entrance to the exit for Stoneridge. I cannot belive the PPD has not closed the NB Bernal entrance yet! Foothill was also backed up with the overflow.

6 hours of fuel burned times 2 or 3 choppers.
All for pictures of a stationary object.
How about donating that fuel to the people in NYC who need it for their generators>

When you drove down Bernal you could see the traffic was completely stopped on the freeway....if you put down your phone while driving or looked past your cars hood you may have noticed. Why do you need a the cops to close an entrance when two lane were open northbound?

Too bad for sick people at home or people who
need to sleep during the day for a graveyard shift.
....or those of us who were just sick of it after many
many hours. They were just sitting in one spot the
whole day. They left for a few minutes and we were
so glad...only to hear them come right back apparently
after REFLUELING. They went through more fuel than,
I'm sure, our whole city for a whole day.
