Police dispatcher busted for drug possession
Search of home turned up 'illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia'

Bookmark and Share
A police department employee has been placed on administrative leave after a search of her home turned up drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.

Police dispatcher Heidi Feathers is under both a criminal investigation and a department personnel investigation.

The release said the search of Feathers' home stemmed from an investigation of an allegation of employee misconduct.

"At the residence, investigating personnel discovered illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The employee was subsequently arrested for violation of section 11377 of the Health and Safety Code (possession of a controlled substance) and booked into Santa Rita County Jail," the report stated.

Pleasanton Police Capt. Craig Eicher said the search and arrest occurred Wednesday night and police found what they suspect is methamphetamine along with prescription medications in bindles -- small packages used to hold drugs -- for which Feathers did not have a prescription.

Feathers is listed as the police department's shop steward for local 955 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) on the local 955 website.

If only we could exponentially increase the wages and pensions of these union employees (many of whom "testified" at a City Council meeting on pension reform), they wouldn't have to resort to selling drugs to augment their income. Cook-Kalio for Mayor!

Thank goodness for unions. She'll be protected for years and collect administrative leave pay for years as her case makes it through the torturous dismissal process.

Thank goodness!

Disgraceful.

All public school teachers, all public school administrators, all public sector employees and all public sector administrators need to have mandatory drug testing on a regular basis.

I can't make this up, but according to this, Thank Goodness, Heidi Feathers in the actual Union steward for Local 955 for the Police Department

AFSCME is the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union

"Unions" are bad because an individual person broke the law? It was "union" employees who arrested her! Bad apples don't spoil the bunch. Get real. She disgraced herself to her employer and co-workers. She'll pay the consequences.

I'm sick of hearing bad things about unions because a very few high paid administrators get big retirements. Stop lumping all union employees together. MOST of us earn low wages & have little to look forward to in retirement packages.

What about those "non-union" employees who make big "bonuses" of thousands of dollars? My brother-in law gets them all the time! $25-80K a pop. Outrageous bonuses for the few while the rest of the non-union employees struggle to feed & house their families.

Two sides folks.

Bored by Union Bashing,

While I too am tired of the endless union bashing, I say, let them keep it up. Anyone who is even partially on the fence about the issue of public employee labor groups, can't help but be disgusted by the use of this event to push their tired, right-wing agenda. As a city resident I'm outraged and appalled if this is true (innocent until proven guilty). I feel that's a pretty natural reaction. On the other hand, those who would use it to try and fuel their partisan BS are shameless and classless and it should be fairly obvious to anyone reading.

Keep up the good work Hannity devotees!

Don't let one bad apple spoil it for the whole group. There are very hard working city employees who have negotiated in good faith for their salaries and benefits. There are doctors and nurses out there addicted to drugs. Does that mean all doctors and nurses shouldn't be trusted or don't deserve a decent salary?

The Valley Times report on their website expands on the administrative leave statement but says that Feathers is being based on PAID administrative leave.

I'm sure that in the private sector someone in a private corporation would be arrested for meth possession and then rather than being terminated right away, would be put on actual PAID leave...:-)

Unions are bad, but I can't help but think bringing BART to Pleasanton had something to do with this. THANKS FOR NOTHING OBAMA!

Posted by Why no drug testing?, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Sep 27, 2012 at 8:03 pm

Why would employees not have regular "random" drug testing? A little ridiculous that calls she received from citizens reporting dealers in the parks, etc. were received by her. I hope she isn't providing them (dealers) info on these calls.

Pleasanton Weekly is she in Santa Rita or administrative leave with pay? To diffrent stories I have read.

Awkward situation: your at home on a day off or getting ready for work and your door is kicked in by your colleagues. Wrong for what she has done being a dispatcher for our community!

Steward for the police who nominated her for that?

I'm so glad our tax payer dollars are paying for her HUGE mistake.

based pay $75K, overtime pay $25K, illegal activity pay $50K

Thanks to the Stoneridge mall Bart expansion, da demographics of da mall have changed. Yesterday I saw a "clever" tshirt with the Warner Brothers logo that said "warn a brotha" when the po-lice are coming. Not making this up. I'm sure "stop snitch in'" and other gang member fashions are next. Raise da roof, yeahie ye-ah!

Unions are horrible until you need someting done on an important scale, something that matters ... fire, police, NFL refs, then whamo, all the sudden they're recognized and honored.

Wow, this is impressive. Anybody actually SEEN Obama in a DeLorean w/ a Mr.Fusion unit travelling back to 1964 (or so) and working on BART development? Hey, I wanna see that on Youtube!!

Very funny Dave, but you know exactly what I mean. It is those types of people that brought BART to Pleasanton. The left wing loons and union puppets are destroying this town.

Posted by Where's the Story?, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Sep 28, 2012 at 7:37 pm

Everyone knows the fascist cops don't have to follow the law. She will retire on her full salary, 50% tax free for her "disability" and smoke dope and crack 24 hours a day, laughing at the sucker tax payers and utterly convinced she deserves it.

Police must be held to a higher standard, a standard that all members of the force should eagerly accept and jealously guard to maintain the trust and respect of the public they serve.

Thrush,

Indeed!

The Pleasanton PD and Alameda Sheriff's department seem to have some serious problems with keeping information confidential. Thats what this dispatcher was originally being investigated for, as well as making harrasing phone calls from work. Pleasanton seems to have a number of problems not the least of which seems to be their hiring process. We already new how sloppy the sheriff's department is seems their always running amuck some new shinanagin evey month. Here are a couple highlights from recent article. Shine the light on these guys and smoke out the real criminals.

1. Pleasanton Police Capt. Craig Eicher said the search and arrest occurred Wednesday night and police found what they suspect is methamphetamine along with prescription medications in bindles -- small packages used to hold drugs -- for which Feathers did not have a prescription.
