Funeral service at 4 p.m. today for former Pleasanton Planning Commissioner Bob Wright
Retired electrician active in civic, city affairs; ran for City Council in 2002

A service celebrating the life of Robert Allen (Bob) Wright, a 31-year resident of Pleasanton, will be held at 4 p.m. today in the Pleasanton Senior Center.

Mr. Wright, 59, served on the San Francisco Water District Property Citizens Committee when early development plans were first considered for Bernal. In the 1990s, he was a member of the Pleasanton Planning Commission. He also served on the Human Services Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, the Design Review Board and the General Plan Review Committee.

In 2002, he ran unsuccessfully for City Council. He was also active in the Rotary Club of Pleasanton.

He was born in Temple City, Calif. on Feb. 5, 1943 to Barbara and William Wright. His family moved to Lafayette in 1950 where he graduated from Pleasant Hill High School. He went on to attend Chico State University.

He and Marilyn were married in 1966 and moved to Pleasanton in 1971. Besides Marilyn, he is survived by their three children, Laura, Stephen and Michael. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and twin brother Tom.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Hope Hospice at 6377 Clark Avenue in Dublin.
