Dublin hires new Community Development director
Nationwide recruitment leads to Luke Sims, who has same job in San Leandro

Bookmark and Share
Following a nationwide recruitment, Dublin City Manager Joni Pattillo has appointed Luke Sims, Community Development Director for the city of San Leandro, to the position of Community Development Director in Dublin.

Sims will fill the vacant position created when Jeri Ram retired as Community Development Director in September 2012.

"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Luke Sims as Community Development Director," Pattillo said. "We are fortunate that the city's extensive search resulted in the appointment of an individual with a long and distinguished career in local government who is familiar with the Bay Area. His educational background combined with his 30 years of professional experience makes him the ideal person to work for me on the current and future issues for the city of Dublin."

Sims began his public service career in 1981 and has worked in various positions with the cities of Pasadena, Temple City, San Pablo, Scottsdale, and San Leandro. He has an undergraduate degree in Urban Planning from Cal Poly Pomona and a Master's Degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from UCLA.

Sims has served as the City of San Leandro's Community Development Director since 2007.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the Dublin City Council, City Manager Joni Pattillo and a great city staff to continue the excellent service delivery to its residents and businesses," Sims said.

Sims is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and East Bay Economic Development Alliance.

Sims will begin as Dublin's Community Development Director on Oct. 8.
