Pleasanton City Council candidate Jerry Pentin's supporters joined in one of this year's election season's more elegant fundraisers Thursday night at the Bella Rosa estate of Marlene and Bill Rebello on Foothill Road in Sunol.

Seated outdoors on the Rebello's patio high in the Sunol hills, the group enjoyed more than an hour of a fast-paced live auction that brought in several thousand dollars to boost the Pentin campaign funds.

Pentin, who is chairman of the Pleasanton Planning Commission, is one of four candidates seeking election to the two seats available in the Nov. 6 municipal election. The others are Karla Brown, Mike Harris and Erlene DeMarcus.

"Many of you know this election is very important to the future of Pleasanton, as it will bring significant change to the Pleasanton City Council," Pentin said at last night's fundraiser.

"We need strong leadership to help sustain the healthy, safe and vibrant community that we all enjoy," he added. "Solving issues like pension reform, affordable housing, traffic and protecting our open spaces requires someone who has spent a lot of time working on them."

Pentin said he has the experience to address those issues. Besides the Planning Commission, he has served on other commissions and task forces and has been involved in city, civic and business service organizations in Pleasanton for more than 20 years, including the Pleasanton North Rotary Club.

"We need to make sure we have experienced, qualified people on the council to make some tough decisions in the years ahead," Pentin said. "I believe I have the leadership that we will need on the council to continue to make Pleasanton the best place to live in the Bay Area."

Jerry has his heart in the right place, and the leadership skills to keep our city moving in the right direction as we try to make our way in this economy. Jerry owns a long-time successful business and is used to making difficult budget decisions every day. Jerry's experience on the City's Planning Commission also gives him the insight and experience to help guide our City. He's put in the time in so many ways to help our youth, our parks, and our city as a whole. He just brings so much to the table.

Jerry not only has the most experience with city issues, he also has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know. Last night was an amazing evening - and the love and passion that Jerry has for his community, his friends and his family were very evident. Jerry is far and above the most qualified candidate for Pleasanton City Council - and he will represent the people of Pleasanton with intelligence, passion and the utmost commitment.

Jerry was one of the more compelling candidates at the Chamber candidate debate event yesterday. He impressed me.

My wife and I have two boys who are almost 6 & 4 and we use the Pleasanton Parks all the time. I have seen the great work Jerry has done to make our parks some of the best in the country and I appreciate all his hard work. He has definately shown leadership with the City given all his volunteer activities but also growing a well- regarded local business. I hired his company (Spring Street Studios) to handle the video production for a large company event and the outcome was far better than either I or the CEO would have expected.

I've known Jerry for years and I've always been impressed with his knowledge of city issues and his commitment to serving the community. He has the qualifications and experience we need on the city council. Go Jerry!

Jerry Pentin is one of Pleasanton's "good guys", and residents will appreciate having him on the City Council.

I have worked with Jerry on a range of of issues, from open space protection to affordable housing. He's thoughtful, accessible, compassionate, and very sincere in his desire to find consensus as part of doing what's best for Pleasanton. I can only imagine that experience on our City Council will enhance these great leadership qualities to the benefit of our community.

In addition, although he hasn't yet had the opportunity to represent Pleasanton regionally, I believe Jerry will be very good at this part of a councilmember's job. His years of community service give him in-depth knowledge about Pleasanton that he will bring to the process of regional problem solving with representatives from other jurisdictions. I think they'll quickly come to appreciate and respect his desire to understand facts, craft solutions, and then "git 'er done".

Vote for Jerry Pentin!

I have had the pleasure to witness Jerry's public service over the last ten years and all I can say is he is remarkable. It will be hard to find someone else driven as much as Jerry is to keep Pleasanton the wonderful place that it is. Pleasanton is a great place to raise a family, run a business, and enjoy the wonderful parks and open space that it offers. Jerry seems to understand what a special place it is and continues to work hard to preserve a great town. Keep up the good work as support all you do in the community.

Waiting to see if Bart Hughes gets into bed with this guy. If so it will speak volumes. Bart is a confused young man who lacks a global perspective and if he supports Jerry it will show his true intentions.

Pentin is by far the tops, #1, in city issues, experience, and all areas in this year's council race.

The first requirement is to put PLEASANTON FIRST !!!
