Wente Vineyards celebrates National Chardonnay Day today

Nearly 80% of California Chardonnay grapes come from a Wente Vineyards clone

Livermore Valley's Wente Vineyards will celebrate National Chardonnay Day from 5:30-7:30 p.m today at the Cresta Blanca Event Center, 5050 Arroyo Road, Livermore.

The celebration will include appetizers and samples of four Chardonnays with the Wente Family, starting with a toast at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $35 for Club Wente members and $45 for the public. Tickets can be purchased online.

The public can also view the toast online at 6 p.m.

National Chardonnay Day is part of the Tri-Valley's history, said Visit Tri-Valley Social Media and Public Relations Manager Liz Sullivan.

Congratulations to the Went family and their generational impact on the production of excellent Chardonnay in California!

However, I don't think your facts are true in the title statement, "...nearly 80% of California Chardonnay grapes come from Wente vineyards." I think the correct statement is: "... nearly 80% o California Chardonnay grapes are grown on rootstock clonal selection recognized as "the Wente clone."
