Lydiksen principal appointed as director of curriculum

Mindy Bolar succeeding Jane Golden, who is retiring

Mindy Bolar, the principal of Lydiksen Elementary School, has been appointed the new director of curriculum in the Pleasanton school district.

She will succeed Jane Golden, who is retiring and leaving the position immediately, according to an announcement by the district.

Prior to coming to the Pleasanton, Bolar worked for the Milpitas Unified School District in many instruction leadership rolesincluding as a teacher, staff developer, Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) coach, director of educational services, principal and coordinator of professional development, according to Pleasanton assistant superintendent Bill Faraghan.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and a Master's degree in educational curriculum from Cal State East Bay.

Bolar will finish the year as principal at Lydiksen before starting her new responsibilities for the 2014-15 school year.

"Mindy is excited at this stage in her career to have the opportunity to work alongside our teachers and administrators and to provide curriculum leadership for Pleasanton Unified School District," said Faraghan.

The process to find Bolar's replacement at Lydiksen will begin immediately.

I am very happy for Ms.Bolar, but sad for Lydiksen. Lydiksen was in desperate need of changes & new ideas when she arrived...and she brought that & more. She brought new life to that school & has made many positive changes. Hope they can replace her with someone just as wonderful & fresh as Ms. Bolar.
Good luck to you Ms.Bolar...

Ms. Bolar has created an amazing environment at Lydiksen. So full of happiness, caring, and support for all. Our family wishes her the best in her new position but will really miss her energy, leadership, and smiles next year!

Why, oh, why is this district such a fan of musical chairs? If she was a welcome and positive change to the Lydiksen community it would seem to me that the district would want her to stay put. With so many other schools in transition, we might want to consider keeping the rest stable. I am not sure the reputation of our district will attract the high level of solid leadership we need! It appears we are digging our own grave. If the best candidate for W.G. was someone named in the Brentwood fiasco, where do they think we are going to pull these new principals from?
