Neighbor busted in home burglary

Used stolen items to decorate her home

Pleasanton police have arrested a local woman for burglarizing her neighbors' home after the victims spotted her wearing their clothes.

Sormeh Angela Zupan, 39, was arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property Wednesday after police executed a search at her home. The arrest stems from a Dec. 13 residential burglary in the 7750 block of Canyon Meadows Circle in which electronics, tools, clothing and other items were taken.

After the burglary, the residents installed video surveillance equipment outside their home. While reviewing footage on Dec. 31, the residents noticed Zupan walking in front of their residence wearing pajama pants and slippers stolen during the burglary.

Nearly all of the victims' property was recovered, including home furnishings that Zupan had used to decorate her own home, police said.

Only in Pleasanton. They should let her go out of respect for the sheer audacity it takes to rob your neighbor and then wear their clothes in front of their house.

I disagree with the "Only in Pleasanton" part. What makes this case so bizarre to us all is the fact that this sort of behavior is very rare in Pleasanton. However, I imagine that there are some communities in the US where it is not at all unusual to see one's neighbor walking by your house while wearing your missing clothes.

Amusing story, though. The entertainment value provided by Ms. Zupan to us does offer some compensation for the cost of locking her up.

I find the story amusing because I don't believe it's proper to steal another persons belongings.

for some reason i'm tickled that she was busted!

HOORAY!

This is just another conspiracy by the police to get Pleasantonians to perform more racial profiling and call the cops on anyone that looks Hispanic or Black. Next someone will say that this person first came to P-town by BART from an undesirable location like Hayward or Oakland, and she lights fires on every spare-the-air day, and she lets her dog poop on neighbor's lawns, and she has a basketball hoop in the street, and she speeds on the Stoneridge extension causing the speed limit to be increased, and she forced the City Council to approve more development and low-income housing, and on and on and on. In reality, she just wanted to ruin someone's Christmas and she thought she looked really cute in those jammies!

Dear cunspeerasee- first of all, she's white. Second, the issues you elude to are all problems that any and every active community has to deal with and ones that people who are 'involved' citizens take on for the benefit of everyone that lives in the community.
Perhaps she needs help or perhaps she is a bad person and needs to be incarcerated; either way I don't see how there is a connection to the other issues you have mentioned.

This is the end result when liberals take the notion of income redistribution to its logical conclusion. Her neighbors had more stuff and she simply took what she was owed.

In all due respects, this poor girl does have mental issues and she sure needs assistance of some kind. What she did was wrong, but no one in their right mind would be out there showng items that were taken during a house robbery. Don't be so quick to judge, she could be a member of your family.
People that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones !!!

cunspeerasee,
I'm trying to decide whether you are a left wing-nut idiot, or simply a garden-variety idiot. Given your racist rant, it would appear that you are a left wing-nut idiot.

To Jack - she's not white, but race doesn't even matter. My post was merely to demonstrate how ridiculous many poster's bents are whenever something happens in dear old p-town.

To Frog Hair - your post is exactly the point of my idiotic post. It exposed you for who you are. It's unfortunate that you are too entrenched in your own myopic world to recognize satire when you see it.

Relax, people! Sheesh!

One must be in a pretty sorry state of mental affairs when, a la Frog Hair, one's categories prove to be so limited while attempting to parse a piece of satire. Cognitive deficit anyone?

I know this girl, so don't be so eager to judge. What she did is wrong, if indeed she did it. She is a very sweet young lady, but she does have issues that many people have, so be kind, it could be someone in your family. Shame on all you nasty people.

Some of you can be so very cruel. After reading some of your mentally retarted comments one can truely see what kind of people there are on our planet Earth. Yes, I know it takes all kinds but for God's sake and the sake of other good hearted people..Liten Up.Take out your vegence on your own kind, not the people who need caring and much needed help. You should hang your head in SHAME but you may be too STUPID to realize that you might be the one who needs help.

The woman speaks perfect english with no accent and seems to be quite American. Her color (or lack there of) or heritage have no part in any of this except to you conspeerasy who has probably never met her. Ill bet you don't know any details either but your quick to jump to a race issue.
And dear P town.... keep ranting, thats why our crime rate is not like Hayward and Oaklands because we don't put up with it. I am a liberal from Pleasanton and being liberal does not mean letting criminals wreak havoc whether they come in on Bart, speed or let their lawn die or live in your condominium complex . Perhaps conspeerasee would be more comfortable in Hayward or Oakland.

Jokes aside, I think that the consensus of opinion here is that Ms. Zupan is a bit confused and needs help. No one is calling for "vengeance". Hope that she gets some help and gets better.

While this individual is clearly in need of counseling rather than punishment, I can't help thinking that the victims may need counseling as well to get over the weird feeling that must come from knowing their neighbor has been wandering around their house helping herself to their things and thinking God knows what confused thoughts. She may be, as an earlier poster stated, "a very sweet young lady," but this is creepy stuff when you think about it.

Would any sane person burglarize their neighbors home and then walk outside wearing the stolen goods? No, this person is mentally ill and needs medication and psychiatric help. Those of you who are unable to understand that may also need some intervention.

should change clothes in the basement! :-)
Wearing the stolen pajama bottoms and slippers outside in front seems to confirm the lady has problems.
Most people do not wear even their own pajamas outside.

From "People who live in glass houses" : "Most people do not wear even their own pajamas outside."

I have a neighbor that likes to go outside with pajama pants/shorts and his hairy chest and back as a shirt. It is pretty gross.

Mental illness or not, I'm glad she was caught. If she has an illness, hopefully she can get the help she needs.

I was mostly interested in the fact that another crime has been committed at Canyon Meadows Circle. I've been following the weekly police reports for years and it never fails that crimes are regularly taking place over there. When a friend was looking for a condo, I made sure to let her know not to go to Canyon Meadows.

Hi Cholo,

No, I don't have hard numbers. But I've been reading the Pleasanton Weekly police report for years. Canyon Meadows is one location that I have repeatedly seen on the report regularly. I am interested in those things because I want to make sure I'm living in a safe location. I don't know how much of a higher risk that location is. You can look up the info yourself or contact the local p.d.
