New women's Acapella singers to perform tonight

12-women group to sing at church Christmas event

Pleasanton's new all-female Acapella, barber shop-style (4-part harmony) singing group will perform tonight at Girls' Night Out Christmas party from 7-9 p.m. at Harvest Valley Christian Church.

The church is located at 3200 Hopyard Road.

The 12-member group is directed by Jeannette Smith, who owns and operates JS Vocal Studio in Pleasanton. It rehearses every Thursday night at the Pleasanton home of one of the singers.

The group's first performance was Nov. 16 at Centerpointe Presbyterian Church in Pleasanton.

At Harvest Christian Church, the Acapella group will be part of a Christmas festival that will include a photo booth, hand-made jewelry table where gifts can be purchased, coffee and desserts, and a hot cocoa bar. More than 20 raffle prizes will be given away.

The party is a women's-only event with tickets costing $15. These can be purchased at the door or on the church's Web site at http://www.harvestvalley.org/

How is it they can have a women-only event? Anytime someone tries to have a men-only event their is a major protest or a lawsuit.

Wow, that sounds like a really great event. And I've heard through the grapevine that this new acapella singing group is fabulous.

How come RK is so upset about women gathering and enjoying making music?

I've always been under the impression that the rk is a girl? Right?

something very suspicious going on?

I was at the Centerpointe recital last month and saw/heard these ladies sing. They were TOTALLY AWESOME. If I were a chick I'd totally go to the party this Friday night so I could hear them sing again!

This is from that first performance at Centerpointe. Not a bad thing to have a little local, homemade (as in made right here in Pleasanton) music on the Pleasanton Weekly website!

For G-d's sake, Cholo, it says right there that it is a REHEARSAL. I'm sure these talented ladies looked spectacular once they took the stage. You should really give a bit more thought to substance over form. You might want to also consider discovering and pursuing a talent of your own instead of spending all of your time using the Pleasanton Weekly web site as a venue for venting all of your absurdity and taking virtual, anonymous swipes at people you'll never see eye to eye.
