Pleasanton School Superintendent Parvin Ahmadi and the district's board of trustees are seeking eight community volunteers and a high school student to serve on the district's new Local Control Advisory Committee.
The committee's responsibility will be to advise the board and superintendent about supporting the district's Strategic Plan with resources from its local control Funding Formula. The Local Control Funding Formula is California's new school funding formula, enacted in 2013.
"The citizen advisory committees will strengthen the effectiveness of district and school operations and enhance student learning," Ahmadi said.
The members of the advisory committee will serve a two-year-term and will be selected from those who apply for the position by filling out an application and submitting it to the superintendent by the Nov. 4 application deadline.
In addition to the eight community members, who can't be school district employees or part of the family of employees, the others who will serve on the 14-member advisory committee will one student, a member of the district's English Learner Advisory Committee, a representative from both the Association of the Pleasanton Teachers and the Classified School Employees Association, the assistant superintendent of Educational Services and the deputy superintendent of Business Services.
Members will be required to attend meetings of the full committee from 6-8 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the Pleasanton Unified School District offices at 4665 Bernal Ave., Pleasanton. Additional time commitments may be necessary at times.
