Orinda City Councilman Steve Glazer is handing out flyers this morning at the East Dublin/Pleasanton BART station calling for a state ban on transit strikes.
With 11 days to go before Gov. Jerry Brown's "cooling off" period on BART unions' last walkout, Glazer is asking BART riders to sign on-line petitions at www.banBARTstrikes.com/
Glazer said he is the only Bay Area public official to speak out in favor of a state ban on transit strikes.
Glazer, a Democrat, is seeking the nomination next March to the 16th State Assembly District, a seat currently held by termed-out Assemblywoman Joan Buchanan.
Glazer is a three-term Orinda City Councilman and has served for two years as the city's mayor, a rotating position among City Council members.
The district includes nine cities and towns in Alameda County, including Pleasanton, although the majority of its constituents live in Contra Costa County.
Glazer said he will be at the East Dublin/Pleasanton station during the peak commuter period until 8:30 a.m.
