A non-profit organization is asking for donations to help fund restoration efforts in the wake of the Morgan fire, which charred 3,111 acres on the eastern side of Mount Diablo. The Interpretive Association (MDIA) assists the state Department of Parks and Recreation in maintaining and interpreting Mt. Diablo State Park. MDIA will be among groups working to repair and replace park structures, picnic areas, trail signage and fencing. Related work also needs to be done to repair park facilities that have suffered from neglect due to the lack of state funds. MDIA is asking the public to help fund much of thes work, hoping to raise at least $30,000.
Donations in check form should be made out to MDIA and sent to the Mount Diablo Interpretive Association at P.O. Box 346, Walnut Creek, CA 94597. For more information, visit mdia.org or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
