A Pleasanton 7-Eleven store on Valley Avenue near Santa Rita Road was robbed early yesterday morning by a man who threatened the lone store clerk, leaped over the counter and grabbed an undetermined amount of money from the cash register.
Pleasanton Police Officer Ted Young said the robber entered the 24-hour-operating store through the front door and when the lone employee entered the beverage cold room, the suspect tried unsuccessfully to lock the clerk inside. The suspect then climbed over the counter and forced the cash register open by hand and took a small amount of cash.
When the employee came out of the cold room, he saw the suspect as he was taking the cash, but did not confront the robber, who fled the store, heading west on on foot west on Valley Avenue, Young said.
Good quality obtained by the store's video equipment shows the suspect as a likely Hispanic male, 5-6 to 5-7 feet tall weighing about 220 pounds. He was wearing a black mask, gloves, a white T-shirt, tan shorts and white athletic shoes. No weapon was seen.
