Oakland Mayor Jean Quan is offering up local barbecue if the Golden State Warriors can't hold off the San Antonio Spurs in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
The Spurs lead the Warriors 2-1 and play the pivotal game at 12:30 p.m. tof\day in Oakland.
In Twitter posts earlier this week, Quan and San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro said they are placing a friendly wager on the their respective teams.
If the Spurs win this series, Quan will send tasty eats from Jack London Square barbecue joint Everett and Jones, located at 126 Broadway, and
B-Side BBQ in West Oakland.
An employee at Everett and Jones said Friday the restaurant and its patrons are big Warriors fans. She hoped they wouldn't have to send any of their ribs, chicken and other smoky meats to Spurs territory.
"Good luck, Julian Castro!" the mayor posted on Monday.
Castro posted on his page that if the Warriors come out on top Oakland will receive authentic San Antonio Tex-Mex cuisine.
The Warriors defeated the Denver Nuggets to advance to the second round, while the Spurs beat the Los Angeles Lakers.
