The Pleasanton Partnerships in Education (PPIE) Foundation will sponsor a half-marathon and 5K event today starting at the Alameda County Fairgrounds to raise money for education.
All profits from the event will go directly to the PPIE, a nonprofit 501(c)3 foundation dedicated to supporting projects and needs that enhance education excellence for students in Pleasanton.
Called the Pleasanton Run for Education, the event will include a:
Half marathon, run on a fast, flat, challenging course over the streets and trails of Pleasanton,with the route including Foothill and Amador Valley high schools;
5K Run/Walk, offering a family-friendly race from the Fairgrounds through downtown Pleasanton. This course is fast and flat, as well.
Kids' Challenge, offering a fun sprint through the Fairgrounds for youths 4 to 11 years old.
The entry fee for the Half Marathon is $65 before Thursday, April 11, and $75 after. Early registration for the 5K is $34 before Thursday and $40 after. Discounts are also offered for up to four family members for $20 for each. The fee for the Kids' Challenge is $10 before April 11, $15 after.
School district employees are being offered 50% discounts for participating in the half-marathon or 5K events if registered by Wednesday, April 10.
Entry fees includes custom t-shirts for all half-marathon participants and special-event shirts for 5K participants, ﬁnisher medals for half-marathon participants, goody bags, post race food, family fitness expo, awards ceremony, and entertainment.
Early race packet pick-up will take place at ClubSport Pleasanton from 3-8 p.m. this Friday, and from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 13. Race packets also can be obtained on the day of the race at the check-in tables.
