CVS Pharmacy is celebrating the opening of its new Pleasanton store in Gateway Center with special prizes and prices.
The store is located near the new Safeway Lifestyle supermarket at Valley and Bernal avenues, across from the Fairgrounds.
Melissa Burgett, store manager, said the store, which actually opened Easter Sunday, has 12,000 square feet of selling space that includes all CVS products, a digital photo processing center and a double drive-through where motorists can drop off and pick up prescriptions.
Burgett formerly managed a CVS Pharmacy in Fremont.
"I live in Concord so I was first in line to seek this position in the new Pleasanton store," she said. "It's a shorter commute to a fabulous brand new store, a real plus."
Rui Camacho, CVS district manager, who lives in Pleasanton, said CVS will open a second new store here at the end of the year where the now empty TGI Friday's building stands on Santa Rita Road and Rosewood Drive. The restaurant building will soon be demolished to make way for CVS, which will be similar in size and product offerings as the store just opened in Gateway Center.
When that new pharmacy opens, operations and employees now at the nearby CVS Pharmacy, also in the Rosewood Pavilion, will move to the new store.
