Sixty Pleasanton students from Amador Valley, Foothill, Horizon and Village high schools will converge on Pleasanton City Hall and the Pleasanton Unified School District offices today to participate in the annual "Youth in Government Day" program.
Students will have the opportunity to "job-shadow" elected City Council and School Board members, the City Manager Nelson Fiahlo and the school Superintendent Parvin Ahmadi as well as school principals, staff from the police and fire departments and other city and school administrators.
The event is sponsored by Pleasanton's Youth Commission and will start at the Firehouse Arts Center with a welcome by Fialho and Ahmadi.
Students will then job-shadow their assigned city and school leaders to get a glimpse into a day career responsibilities. At the end of the day, the group will convene again at the Firehouse Center to discuss teen stress and success.
The program is scheduled to run from
7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
