The Amador Valley High girls softball team faces James Logan High in the North Coast Section championship at 5 p.m. today at St. Mary’s College in Moraga.

The Lady Dons defeated Freedom High, 3-1, at a 4 p.m. game Wednesday, the same day that Logan beat California High, 3-1 in the semifinals.

The Dons got another great outing from the sophomore pitcher-catcher combination to move to 26-0 on the season and get within one win from a unbeaten season.

Johanna Grauer struck-out 13 batters and allowed only four hits to get the win. Grauer also drove in a run. Amador catcher Victoria Molina added a pair of hits including an RBI double to add to the offensive support.

Amador is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the MaxPreps poll and No. 4 in the nation in the ESPN rankings.

Amador team members are Nicole Borchard, Brienna Brown, Johanna Grauer, Ashley Lotoszynski, Jessica Acosta McKeehan, Victoria Molina, Hannah Moreno, Jazzy Perez, Malory Masajlo, Zoe Price, Krista Williams and Nicole Yozzo.

The Lady Dons also won the NCS title last year, plus the future looks bright for Amador softball because only four of this year’s team are seniors.
