Police charged a 17-year-old Pleasanton boy Tuesday with 21 counts of misdemeanor vandalism and five counts felony vandalism for allegedly slashing tires on 27 vehicles in the early hours of March 6 in northeast Pleasanton.
Pleasanton Det. Eric Fredgren said they a phone call tip led them to the boy, who reportedly admitted to consuming two 24-ounce malt liquor drinks before puncturing the tires with a knife. He said the boy was "unable to articulate" his motives, but the boy had mentioned anger management issues.
Fredgren said he believed there was no one else involved in the vandalism, which resulted in $6,075 in damage.
After his arrest, the boy was released to his parents and is awaiting a court date. Police said if he is convicted, restitution for the victims will be sought by the juvenile court.
