A pretrial hearing has been set for Feb. 25 in the case against Paul Stonebarger, 22, who was charged with supplying alcohol to minors at a party in October 2007. Katie Amanda McKewon, 20, who is serving a four-year prison sentence for the death of Laurel Alice Williams, 19, was with Williams at a party where Stonebarger supplied the alcohol.
McKewon, who was driving drunk, collided head-on into an SUV on Foothill Road, killing Williams, who was her passenger. She pleaded no contest to charges of gross vehicular manslaughter, and DUI causing great bodily injury for the 70-year-old woman in the SUV who was seriously injured.
Stonebarger was arrested a month after the Oct. 20, 2007 accident on charges of knowingly purchasing and supplying alcohol to minors at a house party in Pleasanton. If convicted, he could face six months to a year in jail, in addition to a substantial fine.
The pre-trial hearing is set where the judge will decide if there is enough evidence for it to go to a jury trial. A jury trial date has been tenatively set for March 30.
