Starting Saturday, Cyclepath Pleasanton will host free, no-drop (meaning no one gets left behind) group rides for both road and mountain bike riders of all levels.
Heidi White said riders will leave at 8 a.m. every Saturday starting June 7 from the Bank of America parking lot behind Cyclepath, which is located at 337-B Main St. The Saturday rides are for those new to cycling, those who haven't been on their bike in a while or those who just want to ride at a slower pace. Rides will generally be 12-15mph, travel between 20 and 25 miles and last no more than two hours.
Starting Sunday, June 8, Cyclepath will host rides for more seasoned cyclists. Also leaving at 8 a.m. on every Sunday from now on, this group will ride farther, typically 30 to 35 miles, with some climbing. Routes will vary weekly and last approximately two to three hours. Riders warm up together and split into smaller groups based on skill level, with Group A traveling 60 miles, Group B, 35 to 40 miles and Group C, 25 to 30 miles.
For the truly serious riders, Cyclepath will host a group mountain ride at 6 p.m. every Tuesday on even-numbered months to Lake Chabot and on odd-numbered months on the Pleasanton Ridge. These rides last approximately two hours. Riders should be in good fitness, have a well-adjusted, safe mountain bike and general knowledge of bike handling skills. For the Lake Chabot rides, cyclists will meet at the Lake Chabot Ranger station.
All group ride participants are encouraged to bring water, a snack and a spare tube and pump.
