A Cinco de Mayo celebration is planned for Wednesday’s First Wednesday Street Party, the first of the spring and summer season.

The popular downtown affair is held on the first Wednesday of the month through September and is sponsored by the Pleasanton Downtown Association.

Wednesday’s featured band is local favorite La Ventana.

Attendees can walk in the middle of Main Street and visit booths set up by a wide variety of businesses to market and sell their products and services.

A beer and wine garden will be located in the parking lot of Round Table Pizza where La Ventana will be playing rock and soul beats.  A variety of beers and local Livermore Valley wines will be available for purchase.

Main Street will be closed from St. John Street to Old Bernal Avenue from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday. Organizers say there will be plenty of off-Main Street parking available.

  1. I thought these street parties begin in May? We still have another week till May. And why is the PW sharing a storing from May 2008? We’re in 2009. Maybe I went back in time last night while I was sleeping and the swine flu got a hold of me. Who knows…

  2. PToWN94566, the thread was generated when La Ventana commented on the 2008 story. We’ll have a story on 2009’s First Wednesday Street Parties in this Friday’s paper.
