Pleasanton police have arrested a 53-year-old man on a felony drunk driving charge following an October crash that seriously injured a 9-year-old girl.
Robert Patrick Monaghan's blood alcohol level was over three times the legal limit when he rear-ended a car stopped at a red light on Owens Drive near Rosewood Drive at about 6 p.m., police said.
Monaghan was driving a Chevy Tahoe sport utility vehicle and the car he hit, a Toyota Camry, contained a family of four, police said. One member in the family, a 9-year-old girl, suffered multiple head injuries and was airlifted to the trauma center at Eden Medical Center. She remains there in critical condition.
Monaghan was driving with his 4-year-old son, who was not injured in the crash, police said. No one else was seriously injured.
Monaghan was arrested soon after the crash but was later released pending investigation and forensic results, police said.
He was rearrested today and booked into Santa Rita County Jail.
