The teen killed by a train early this morning is being identified as a junior at Amador Valley High School, pending a coronor's official report. The death is said to have been intentional, according to police.
Lt. Darrin Davis said the boy was hit by a Union Pacific train west of Santa Rita Road near Amador Valley High around 2:10 a.m.
"It looks like it's a suicide and we're still investigating," he said.
This would be the second death of a high school student by suicide in less than a week. Davis said the two incidents aren't related.
Superintendent John Casey said that extra counselors were available at the school to help students.
The Pleasanton Weekly has decided not to identify the teen.
