Almost time to close downtown streets
(February 03, 2006) Event season just around the corner
The PDA’s 2006 event season will soon begin with the usual fun and excitement on the streets of downtown Pleasanton. A side benefit: The events bring foot traffic to downtown merchants.
To accommodate the activities, some streets will close as the fun is in progress. Think about arriving early if you'll need a place to park.
Pleasanton Downtown Association 2006 events street closures are:
* First Wednesday Street Parties, 6 p.m.–9 p.m., May 3, June 7, July 5, Aug. 2 and Sept. 6. From 5 p.m.-10 p.m., St. John Street will be closed to Old Bernal and a portion of E. Angela will be closed.
* Antique Faires, Sundays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., May 28-Oct. 8. From 2 a.m.-6 p.m, St. John Street will be closed to Bernal.
* Pleasanton Heritage Festival, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 and Sunday, Sept. 24. Closed all day: St. John Street to Old Bernal Avenue.
* Hometown Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting, 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Dec. 2. From 4 p.m.-9 p.m., Santa Rita Road and Main Street will be closed from Amador High School to Bernal Avenue.
Streets will not be closed for:
* Concerts in the Park, 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Fridays, June 2-Sept. 1.
* Wine Stroll, 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9 and Thursday, July 20.
* Magical Evening, 5 p.m.-9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 17.
The above street closure schedule applies to those events coordinated by the Pleasanton Downtown Association only. There may be additional street closures throughout the year that are managed by other community organizations. For a complete event schedule, view the Community Calendar on the City of Pleasanton website at: www.ci.pleasanton.ca.us/calendar.
