Pleasanton gymnasts take first place at invitational
(February 03, 2006) The "High Tech Invitational" in Rancho Cordova included competitors from several Pleasanton schools who train at Pleasanton's West Coast Olympic Gymnastics Academy off Serpentine Lane. Chase "Michael" Kettering, 13, an eighth grader at Pleasanton Middle School, competed on the Pommel Horse and took fifth place with a score of 8.3. Tyler Lomas, 14, a freshman at Amador Valley High School, received an eighth on Pommel Horse with a score of 7.5, and an eighth on High Bar with a score of 8.4. Pleasanton's TJ Marcelo, 11, is a student at St. Edwards. He received a first on floor with a score of 8.8, a second on Pommel Horse with a score of 8.6, and a second on vault with a 9.45. He finished first in "all around" for his age group. Overall team awards were: second place Level 5; second place Level 6; first place Level 9.
