(February 03, 2006) Police seek armed robber
Police are looking for the man they say robbed the Planet Beach Tanning Center at gunpoint. The robbery happened at 6 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The suspect is described as being between 50 and 60 years of age, 6 feet tall and weighing about 190 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he had a graying beard. Police report that $130 was handed over by the frightened but unhurt 18-year-old female clerk. If you have information that can help police, call 931-5100.
Speeders collared
Forty-three speeders got tickets, 37 were warned, and one driver was cited for not having a small child secured in a safety seat during a recent speed enforcement operation conducted by the Pleasanton police. The operation's reported goal was to raise driver safety awareness and cut the number of speed-related accidents. It was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
